Dottie Drummond, a second-generation florist, purchased a small flower shop in 1983. Her sales volume grew too quickly for this 700 square foot store in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Eleven months after the grand opening she purchased her second location in Norristown, which was planned to support the primary sales location in King of Prussia by housing the offices, warehouse, and design facility. This new location became one of the busiest intersections in the Philadelphia region.

Dottie's success was the result of a very simple philosophy: "Deliver beautifully designed fresh flowers everyday." Many people thought she was crazy. Everyday? Even evenings and Sundays? No florists are open on Sunday.

But Dottie understood that Plaza Flowers had to be available for every occasion, even evenings and Sundays. She instilled this "be there for your customers" attitude into every member of her team, especially her daughter, Heather, and son Chris, who now run the family business. Chris and Heather have worked hard to make sure every customer gets the personalized attention that Mom promised. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
